This package contains the HP Adjustment Pattern Utility. This utility is a
single-pattern program that is designed to help improve the picture quality of
HP or Compaq Flat-Panel Monitors that are attached to computers using an analog
video cable (VGA connector).
The HP Adjustment Pattern utility helps to improve the following image quality
characteristics:
- Fuzzy or unclear focus
- Ghosting, streaking, or shadowing effects
- Faint vertical bars
- Thin, horizontal scrolling lines
- Centering the picture
NOTE: There is no need to use the HP Adjustment Pattern utility if the attached
monitor is connected to the computer using a digital video cable (white DVI
connector on both ends of the cable).
To achieve optimal picture performance, HP recommends setting the operating
system display mode to the native resolution for the flat-panel monitor, as
follows:
- 14-inch and 15-inch flat-panel monitors should be set to a resolution of 1024
x 768.
- 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch flat-panel monitors should be set to a
resolution of 1280 x 1024.
- 17-inch and 19-inch widescreen flat-panel monitors should be set to a
resolution of 1440 x 900.
- 20-inch and 21-inch flat-panel monitors should be set to a resolution of 1600
x 1200.
- 20-inch, 21-inch, and 22-inch widescreen flat-panel monitors should be set to
a resolution of 1680 x 1050.
- 23-inch and 24-inch widescreen flat-panel monitors should be set to a
resolution of 1920 x 1200.

This package contains the HP Display Assistant Utility for the supported HP
monitor models. The HP Display Assistant Utilty is a monitor control and
calibration program that offers an easy step-by-step process for obtaining the
best overall picture quality.
Monitor performance can vary due to the graphics card, host computer, lighting
conditions, and other environmental factors.
To get the best image on a monitor, it must be adjusted for the unique setting
where it is placed. Unfortunately, the manual controls available to tune the
image often prove to be challenging. Proper adjustment (tuning) requires an
easy-to-use program that provides a step-by-step process to obtain the best
overall picture quality.
The HP Display Assistant guides users through the tuning process with
easy-to-understand instructions and background patterns designed for each
monitor control. The display settings for each user can be saved, providing an
easy way to select display characteristics in a multi-user environment, or to
save multiple defined presets for a single user based on content and ambient
lighting.
The HP Display Assistant enables monitor adjustment and color tuning using the
Display Data Channel Command Interface (DDC/CI) protocol. All adjustments to
the display are controlled through software to eliminate the need to use the
monitor on-screen display (OSD). HP Display Assistant runs in the background
and can be accessed through the Task tray, Start menu, or by right-clicking in
a blank area of the desktop. The HP Display Assistant enables quick, accurate
tuning of the display, with the ability to easily save and use monitor
configurations that are best suited to the user.
The HP Display Assistant has two modes of operation: Wizard and OSD mode. The
preferred method of use is Wizard mode, which provides a step-by-step process
to accurately calibrate the monitor. OSD mode enables changes to any single
monitor setting without stepping through a predefined sequence. This method is
less accurate than Wizard mode, but enables easy access to any monitor
adjustment.

This package contains the HP Display Installer program, which automatically
detects the Microsoft Operating System that is running on your computer and
installs the corresponding .INF and .ICM driver files that are used to
configure the 24-inch HP LP2465 Wide LCD Monitor.
The setup information, or .INF file, defines monitor resources used by
Microsoft Operating Systems in order to ensure monitor compatibility with the
graphics card installed in your computer.
The image color matching, or .ICM file, is a color data file that is used in
conjunction with graphics applications to provide consistent color matching
from monitor screen to printer, or from scanner to the monitor screen. The .ICM
file is only activated from within the graphics applications that support this
feature.
