DES-3550 Firmware Release Note
Firmware: 3.05.B36
Hardware: A1/A2/A3
Date: Dec 29, 2005
Problems Resolved:
1. Fix the security issues recently reported for unauthorized system access.
Enhancements:
Limit the access by passwords generated by "D-Link PWD calculator".
Before, if customers forgot their configured passwords, D-Link could generate passwords based on the MAC addresses provided by customers via D-Link HQ maintained PWD calculator. Thus customers can use those "backdoor" passwords via telnet/ web/ console to logon to their switch again.
Now the access of those passwords generated by "D-Link PWD calculator" will be limited to console access only.
This is to minimize the security concern.
Note:
This is a recommended security patch for your customers.
=================================================================
Firmware: 3.05.B13
Hardware: A1/A2
Date: May. 31, 2005
Problems Resolved:
1. The same ARP entry can’t be added as static if it has been learned already.
2. SSH connection can be formed by any IP even trusted host function is enabled.
3. The setting of ACL tcp destination port isn't written to the configuration in WEB UI, but okay in CLI.
4. The value of OID “dot1qTpFdbTable” is wrong after certain SNMP retrieving sequences.
5. Configuration file cannot be restored after backup in PC. (This problem was found in R2.00B19, and already fixed in R3.01B23)
6. Device crashed when enabling IGMP snooping and sending multicast traffic for a period of time.

Hardware:
DES-3526:A1/A2/A3/A4G
DES-3526DC:A1/A2/A3G
DES-3550:A1/A2/A3/A4G /A5G
Date: Oct.15, 2008
Problem Resolved:
1. CPU utilization remains high while the traffic storm is released.
2. DHCP client sometimes can not get IP address from DHCP server while enabling IP-MAC-Port binding feature.
3. When connecting DES-3550 Giga port to DGS-1224T Giga port and then reboot DGS-1224T, the link between the DES-3550 and DGS-1224T will down unless it must unplug and plug the UTP cable to recover.
4. Once the ACL is set to block contents from source IP to destination IP, after that if we configure DES-3526 Bandwidth control Rx rate from 1 to 99 Mbps, the ACL setting will fail. This is because the priority confliction between ACL and bandwidth control. The R5.1 FW adjusts the priority between the ACL and bandwidth control based on customer’s request.
5. When configuring both DES-3550’s Giga ports to 1000_Full and connect to each other (port49 connect port50). The Link status is always link down.
6. While connecting to DES-3526 via telnet and set the terminal line 20 ~80. Some problems occur in show ports description command: the "n" (next page) and "p" (previous page) can’t work correctly.
7. While executing DHCP auto configuration and reboot the device, the log-in screen shows up and all the auto configuration tasks will be held up until user press any key to continue the processes.
8. Fail in setting daylight saving time, user can’t set daylight saving time successfully.
9. The auto assign Access ID of the ACL rule can be configured via Web, but it can't be configured via CLI.
10. When there are dual image in the device, if user firstly select the image 2 as the boot up and delete the image 1, after switch reboot the device will change the original image 2 to be image 1.

24/48-Port 10/100Mbps Stackable Switches
With 2 Combo 1000BASE-T/SFP Gigabit Ports
The D-Link DES-3500 series of 10/100Mbps Stackable Switches are mutually stackable switches that feature D-Link's state-of-the-art Single
IP Management technology. Equipped with 24 to 48 10/100BASE-TX ports and 2 combo 1000BASE-T/SFP Gigabit in a low-profile rackmount
box, these switches are designed for secure and flexible connection. Simple to deploy and easy to manage, these switches comprise the
departmental access-layer devices that can be easily stacked and configured with any switches supporting D-Link's Single IP Management,
including the L3 core switches, to form part of a multi-level network structured with backbone and centralized high-speed servers.
Cost-Effective Virtual Stacking
Basically, the DES-3500 series switches form a departmental stack
providing 10/100Mbps speed with flexible Gigabit uplinks. Traffic
running among the stacked units is through the fast full-duplex
Gigabit interfaces and your usual network wires, doing away with the
costly and cumbersome stacking cables. Without any stacking cable,
cable distance barrier and physical stacking method limitations, your
stack can comprise units that are located anywhere on the network,
eliminating the possibility of any single point of failure.
Single IP Management
The DES-3500 series simplifies and speeds up your management
tasks, as multiple switches can be configured, monitored and
maintained from any workstation running a web browser through one
unique IP address. The stack is managed as a single object, and all
stacked units are identified by a single IP address. Through the builtin
web manager, you can have a Tree View with clear information
about the members of the stacks, and your Network Topology that
shows the locations of the stacked units and their link information.
This simple yet powerful web-based management eliminates the need
for you to install expensive SNMP network management software.
Easy Expansion to 32 Units per Stack
From an access-level departmental stack, you can easily add units to
up to 32 switches per stack not limited to any specific models. Your
Virtual Stack's support for any switch models with embedded Single
IP Management means that you can expand your stack to include L3
core switches, chassis-based switches or any other switches, to
accommodate your network growth.
Comprehensive Security
The DES-3500 series provides a complete set of security features
for connectivity and access control. This set includes Access Control
Lists (ACLs) based on MAC address, switch port, IP address, and/or
TCP/UDP port numbers, 802.1x user authentication and MAC
address control. The DES-3500 also provides central management
for administration access via TACACS+ and RADIUS . Together
with network application control, this security ensures that not only
proper user access is served, but malicious traffic is also prevented
from being spread across the network.
Enhanced Network Performance & Availability
The DES-3500 series switches provide extensive VLAN support
including GARP/GVRP, 802.1Q and asymmetric VLAN to enhance
network security and performance. Bandwidth control allows you to
set traffic limit for each port to control the traffic volume from the
edge of the network. The switches supports redundant power option
to maximize network uptime. Other features include 802.3ad Link
Aggregation, 802.1d Spanning Tree and 802.1w Rapid Spanning
Tree to increase network reliability and availability of your Virtual
Stack.
Multi-layer Quality of Service (QoS)
The DES-3500 series implements a robust set of multi-layer (L2, L3,
L4) QoS/CoS features to ensure that critical network services like
VoIP, ERP, Intranet and video conference are served with proper
priority. 4 priority queues for 802.1p/TOS/DiffServ are supported,
with classification and marking based on MAC SA/DA, IP SA/DA,
and/or TCP/UDP port numbers.
