802.11a/g Tri-Mode Dualband Wireless CardBus Adapter
The D-Link AirPremierAGTM DWL-AG660 wireless CardBus adapter is a high-performance, versatile and necessary PC
networking solution for companies that need to quickly expand or reconfigure their wireless networks as their organization
grows. This tri-mode, dualband network card inserts into your notebook/laptop PC to provide you a versatile way to
wirelessly connect to any one of three available wireless networks -- 802.11b and the newer, faster 802.11g and 802.11a that
operate in two discrete, non-interfering frequency bands, 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
Easiest Way to Expand
End-to-End Wireless Solution
108Mbps SuperG High Speed
If you're a network administrator, the versatile 802.11a/b/gcompatible
DWL-AG660 adapter gives you an immediate
way to expand your existing 802.11b network and protect
your overall wireless network investment. By installing
DWL-AG660 network adapters in computers throughout
your organization, your employees can access wireless
Access Points and routers from their PCs. And as your
company expands or reorganizes, you won't have to keep
pulling and plugging Ethernet cables because no matter
where the workstation is relocated, it's still connected to the
network.
When you add an 802.11a/b/g access point (D-Link
AirPremierAGTM DWL-7100AP) or router (D-Link
AirPremierAGTM DI-784) to your wireless network, you will
have an end-to-end wireless solution capable of handling up
to 15 times the user load of your current 802.11b network.
In addition to its compatibility with earlier 802.11b
networks, the DWL-AG660 offers the robust speed, up to
108Mbps (Turbo mode), of the newer 802.11g standard
, so everyone can work faster and more efficiently.
In addition to the 2.4GHz frequency band operated by
802.11b and g, the 54Mbps 5GHz band used by 802.11a also
offers a way to quickly transfer data in a frequency range that
does not experience interference or interruptions from cordless
phones, microwave ovens and other devices utilizing the
2.4GHz frequency.
WPA Enhanced Security
802.1x Authentication
Pre-Shared Key
Wi-FiTM Protected Access in the DWL-AG660 provides the
necessary security protocols and tools, so employees can
communicate with colleagues confidentially, access sensitive
company information or send data that is dynamically
encrypted as it's sent. Wi-FiTM Protected Access lets you
authorize and identify users based on a secret key that
changes automatically at a regular interval. Used in
conjunction with a RADIUS server, WPA uses TKIP
(Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) to change the temporal
key every 10,000 packets. This insures much greater security
than the standard WEP security, which requires the keys to
be changed manually.
The DWL-AG660 supports 802.1x authentication for
protection against network intrusion. Used in conjunction
with a RADIUS server, this function provides a means to
verify the identity of the client before an access to the
network is granted.
This function brings a lot of convenience (when used in
conjunction with other 802.11g products) for users that do
not incorporate a RADIUS server in their networks.
Utilizing the Pre Shared Key mode of WPA, the DWLAG660
will obtain a new security key every time it connects
to the 802.11g network. You only need to input your
encryption information once in the configuration menu. With
the DWL-AG660, you will automatically receive a new key
every time you connect, doing away with the inconvenience
of manual WEP key input.

The step-by-step instructions that follow are shown in Windows XP. The steps and screens are similar for other Windows operating systems.
If the CD Autorun function does not automatically start on your computer , go to Start > Run and type “D:\driver\setup.exe.” If it does start, proceed to the next screen.
Installing the DWL-AG660 Wireless
Cardbus Adapter in Your Computer
A. Make sure to turn off the laptop computer.
B. Locate the Cardbus slot on your laptop computer.
C. Gently insert the DWL-AG660 into the Cardbus slot in your laptop computer (as shown.)
Restart Your Computer
When you restart your computer this Found New Hardware Wizard (Windows XP) screen will appear:
Your Installation is Complete!
After you have finished the installation in Windows XP, 2000, Me, or 98SE, the D-Link AirPremierTM DWL-AG660 Configuration Utility will automatically start and the utility icon will appear in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop screen (systray). If this icon appears GREEN, then you have successfully installed the DWL-AG660, are connected to a wireless network and are ready to communicate!
Appendix
For Windows XP, if you wish to use the AirPremierTM utility, please do the following steps.

System Requirements for Configuration:
A laptop or notebook computer with an available 32-bit
cardbus slot
Windows XP/2000/Me/98SE
At least 128MB of memory and a 500MHz processor
An 802.11a, 802.11b or 802.11g access point (for Infrastructure
mode) or another 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g wireless
adapter (for Ad-Hoc; Peer-to-Peer networking mode).
Introduction
At up to fifteen times the speed of previous wireless devices (up to 108Mbps in
SuperAG mode), you can work faster and more efficiently, increasing
productivity. With the DWL-AG660, bandwidth-intensive applications like graphics
or multimedia will benefit significantly because large files are able to move across
the network quickly.
Inclusion of all three standards (802.11g; 802.11a; 802.11b) means that the
DWL-AG660 is versatile enough to allow connection to almost any 802.11
network at home, at work or at public hotspots like coffeehouses, airports and
hotel lobbies.
The DWL-AG660 has the newest, strongest and most advanced security
features available today. When used with other 802.11 WPA (Wi-Fi Protected
Access) and 802.1X compatible products in a network with a RADIUS server,
the security features include:
WPA: Wi-Fi Protected Access which authorizes and identifies users based
on a secret key that changes automatically at regular intervals. WPA
uses TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) to change the temporal
key every 10,000 packets (a packet is a kind of message transmitted
over a network.) This ensures much greater security than the standard
WEP security. (By contrast, the previous WEP encryption
implementations required the keys to be changed manually.)
802.1X: Authentication which is a first line of defense against intrusion. In the
authentication process, the Authentication Server* verifies the identity
of the client attempting to connect to the network. Unfamiliar clients
would be denied access.
