Introduction
The D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G810 High-Speed Ethernet Wireless Bridge is an 802.11g high-performance, wireless device that can be implemented in a variety of ways by converting an Ethernet connection into one that is capable of wireless connectivity.
TM
For devices with a built-in Ethernet port, the DWL-G810 provides a cost-effective way to gain wireless connectivity, virtually transforming wired devices into wireless units! Connect any Ethernet-enabled device to an existing 802.11g wireless network (achieving a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 54Mbps*) using the DWL-G810.
(The DWL-G810 is also backwards compatible with 802.11b devices.)
Typical applications include connecting a printer to a wireless network and connecting Ethernet-enabled devices (such as set top boxes) to a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). Simply connect the DWL-G810 to the Ethernet (RJ-45) port of a network device, such as a network storage device, Internet camera, network printer, network scanner, or other similar device. Using the DWL-G810 allows the flexibility of placing network devices in remote locations while maintaining a high-speed connection.
Whether you are using the DWL-G810 in Ad-Hoc or Infrastructure mode, you can use the convenient Setup Wizard for easy installation. Please refer to the Quick Installation Guide that is included with your purchase for instructions on how to use the Setup Wizard.
Please read through this manual if you would like to learn more about wireless technology and enjoy the high-speed wireless possibilities available to you with the DWL-G810 High-Speed Ethernet Wireless Bridge!

Observations
Connecting the DWL-G810 to your
Ethernet-enabled device
A. First, connect the power adapter to the receptor at the back panel of the DWLG810
and then plug the other end of the power adapter to a wall outlet or power
strip. The Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper operation.
B. Insert one end of an Ethernet cable (included) to the Ethernet port on the back
panel of the DWL-G810 and connect the other end to the Ethernet port located
on the device (e.g., a Set Top Box, Gaming Console, laptop or desktop computer,
or network printer.) The LED light will blink when there is data tranfer through the
wireless connection. (Note: The Ethernet port on the DWL-G810 is Auto-MDI/
MDIX. Meaning you can use a straight-through or crossover-cable to the Ethernet
Port.)
C. The antenna is used by the DWL-G810 to connect to other 802.11b/g wireless
devices.
Connecting the DWL-G810 in
Infrastructure Mode
Connect an Ethernet cable from the DWL-G810 to your Ethernet enabled:
Desktop PC, Laptop PC, Set-Top-Box, or Gaming Console.
Connecting the DWL-G810 in Ad-Hoc
Mode
Web-based Configuration
Before You Begin the Configuration
It’iis best to use a computer (with an Ethernet adapter) that is connected to a switch for
configuring the DWL-G810. (Note: You also have the option of connecting the DWL-G810
directly to the computer that will be used for configuration). The default IP address for
the DWL-G810 is 192.168.0.30 with a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0. You will need to assign
your computer a Static IP address within the same range as the DWL-G810 IP address for
the purpose of configuring the DWL-G810. See the Manual on the CD-ROM if you need
assistance in assigning a Static IP address for your network adapter.
Once you have logged
in, the Home screen will
appear.
Step 1 - Set up your new
password. You have the option
to establish a password.
Step 2 - Wireless Setup
The default wireless settings are:
SSID = default
Channel = 6
Operating Mode = Infrastructure
Step 3 - Encryption
The DWL-G810 is capable of two
levels of wireless encryption - 64-bit,
and 128-bit.

Up to 108Mbps Transmission Speed
Plug and Play
Easy Settings
The DWL-G810 provides speeds of up to 108Mbps Super
G Turbo mode when used with other D-Link
AirPlusXtremeG and other 802.11g products. This
compares favorably with 802.11b devices that offer 11Mbps
transmission. The DWL-G810 provides all the high speed
using a single 2.4GHz wireless frequency, eliminating the
complexity of dualband networking. This enhanced speed
and adoption of 2.4GHz frequency, now available for public
use in most countries, plus the mobility and convenience
inherent in a wireless LAN, make this device an ideal
solution for bandwidth intensive WLAN applications.
Simply plug this compact device to an Ethernet interface,
and your computer, print server, game console and other
equipment will instantly become a wireless LAN device.
No configuration is necessary. Your device can
transparently operate on a D-LinkAirPlusXtremeG ,
802.11g or any 802.11b wireless network.
With its Web-based configuration interface, more advanced
settings can be applied in the DWL-G810. When connecting
to another DWL-G810, this Ethernet to Wireless LAN
Client Adapter requires no configuration at all. You can use
TM
TM
the convenient Setup Wizard for the easy installation of
your DWL-G810. Whether you are using it in Ad-Hoc
mode or Infrastructure mode, you can begin with the Setup
Wizard.
Interoperable With Wireless LAN Equipment
DWL-G810 interoperates with all 802.11b and 802.11g
wireless equipment. This Ethernet-to-Wireless LAN Client
Adapter offers multiple non-overlapping channels to
minimize interference from other wireless networks.
Security
The DWL-G810 provides choices of 64-bit, 128-bit and
152-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption,
giving you an increased level of protection for sensitive
data transmission and prevention of intruders from gaining
access to your network connection. WPA is supported.
Cost-effective
The DWL-G810's low cost allows you to convert any
Ethernet device or network adapter to a wireless device. In
the ad-hoc mode, the DWL-G810 even lets your wired
network device operate with other wireless devices without
the need for any Access Point.
