HARDWARE INSTALLATION :
If you are ready with the jumper settings, please proceed with the following installation
instructions. Because the designs of computers are different, only general installation
instructions are given. Please refer your computer’s reference manual whenever in doubt.
1. Turn off the power to your computer and any other connected peripherals.
2. Remove the mounting screws located at the rear and/or sides panels of your Computer
and gently slide the cover off.
3. Locate an available expansion slot and remove its covers from the rear panel of your
computer. Make sure it is the right expansion slot for the card (see card description)
4. Align the card with the expansion slot, and then gently but firmly, insert the card.
Make sure the card is seated and oriented correctly. Never insert the card by force!
5. Then connect the card with a screw to the rear panel of the computer case.
6. Gently replace your computer’s cover and the mounting screws.
DRIVER INSTALLATION :
Windows 9.x and ME:
After starting the operating system, Windows 9x or ME will find a new „PCI Parallel
Controller". Insert our driver CD into your CD-ROM Drive (for example D:). Then
please enter the directory: "D:\IO\NETMOS\98XX\Win95 Win98 or WinME" into the
field for the source path. Do not use the automatic search option from windows!
Very important! Restart Windows 9x/ME after the installation or the EX-44012/44212
wont work.
CHECK THE INSTALLED DRIVER:
Click >Start< >Setting< >Control panel< >System< >Device Manager<.
There you will see at „Ports (COM & LPT)“ a new „NetMos PCI Parallel Port (LPT2)
& (LPT3)“ and at „NetMosMultiFunction“ a new „ NetMos PCI 9x15 Multi-I/O Controller“.
If you see this or a similar information, the EX-44012 / 44212 is installed correctly.
INSTALL A PERIPHERAL DEVICE:
Now you can install a Centronics parallel device to the EX-44012/44212.
Attention!! If you want to connect old devices, it is possible that they wont work with
PCI or PCI-Express cards. In this case please connect the older device to the motherboard
and the newer device to the EX-44012 / 44212. If it is necessary to connect a old
device to the EX-44012 / 44212 please make sure that you use the latest driver and
firmware for the device. If you experience problems with installing such devices or you
are not sure that they will work. Please contact the manufacturer of the device for further
information!
Windows NT4.0 :
Start Windows NT 4.0 and insert our driver CD into your CD-ROM drive (for example
D:). Click at >Start< >Run< and then please enter the directory:
"D:\IO\NETMOS\WinNT\NetMosWinNTParPortDrivers.exe" into the field for the
source path. Windows NT 4.0 will start the setup program and install the driver. After that
please restart Windows NT 4.0.
CHECK INSTALLED DRIVER:
Click at >Start< >Programs< >Administrative Tools[Common]< >Windows NTDiagnostics
< then click at >Resource< >IRQ<. In this window you can see two entry
like >05 NMPAR 0 PCI< for the EX-44012 / 44212. Then click at >I/O-Port<. Here
you see the following settings like „E400-E41F NMPAR 0 PCI“. The I/O addresses
and IRQ´s ´may vary, it depends on the system configuration. If you see this or
a similar information, the EX-44012 / 44212 is installed correctly.

This document will present the steps needed to Install / Un-install the drivers of MosChip
PCI to Serial / Printer port products or another manufacturer’s product based on MosChip
MCS98XX series.
In this document, the MCS9835 is taken as an example to explain the installation process.
MCS9835 offers two serial ports and one printer port.
Driver Installation:
Download the appropriate drivers from the link :
The drivers can be downloaded
from the category “PCI Connectivity” in the download section of our website.
Allow the “.zip” file to be downloaded to your local computer. Unzip the Driver files to a
directory on your PC Hard Disk, or to a Floppy Diskette.
Note : MCS98XX drivers are certified by Microsoft for
Vista 32bit & Vista 64bit operating systems.

enforcing some restrictions in adding un-signed drivers
to the kernel.
Installing Drivers for the first time:
Switch OFF the PC.
Insert the peripheral card into the computer.
Ensure that there are no external devices connected to the Ports at this time. They can
interfere with the installation of the Drivers.
Turn ON the computer.
Windows should detect the new card, and automatically invoke the “Found New
Hardware” wizard.
“Install this driver software anyway” to proceed with driver installation.
Following pop-up screen applies to un-signed drivers only. Hence u will not see
this with Microsoft certified drivers (Signed drivers).
Preparing Vista 64-bit Operating System for installing un-signed drivers:
Steps given below are relevant for using Un-signed drivers on Vista operating system.
MCS98XX drivers are certified by Microsoft (Signed drivers) hence steps below do not
apply when Signed drivers are used.
• Using the F8 option: Press F8 key on your keyboard while booting your PC. You
will get into “Advanced Boot Options”. Select “Disable Driver Signature
Enforcement”.
• An F8 Advanced Boot Option introduced with Windows Vista—“Disable Driver
Signature Enforcement”—is available to disable the kernel-signing enforcement
only for the current boot session. This setting does not persist across boot sessions.
Note: Make sure to use F8 option every time you boot/reboot your PC before start
working with MCS98XX
• Make sure that the User installing the driver must be a member of the
Administrator group on the system.
You will get a “User Account Control” window saying “An unidentified program
wants access to your computer”. Click on Allow to continue installing the Driver.
